[AfriNIC-announce] 2009 AfrinIC Board election results

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the 2009 Election Committee, we would like to thank all
of the candidates that stood for the election for seat 3 (Southern
Africa region) and seat 4 (Eastern Africa region) of the AfriNIC
Board of Directors.

We had six nominations in total (4 for seat 3 and 2 for seat 4).

As a result of the election that took place during the Public Member
& Policy meeting on May 21st 2009, we are pleased to announce the
appointment of the following candidates to the AfriNIC Board:

1) Mark J. Elkins (South Africa) and Silvio Almada (Angola)
    respectively as Primary and Alternate Directors for the
    Southern Africa region.

2) John Walubengo (Kenya) and  Lillian Wambui Karanja (Kenya)
    respectively as Primary and Alternate Directors for the
    Eastern Africa region.

The terms of the newly elected Board members start on July 1st and for
a three-year period.

Congratulations to the newly elected Board Members and we wish them
success in their new position.

Finally, I would like to thank the Election committee and its chair for
their good job in coordinating this election process.
