Hi Mukom,<div><br></div><div>Your efforts on getting IPv6 adopted in Africa are highly appreciated. </div><div><br></div><div>IMO we might need to start training in other critical internet Infrastructure such as DNS so as to make people more confident with the migration. Planning and Configuration is understandably getting most of the efforts but if we dont take the next step in the process then we will get stuck.</div>

Thank you very much for your reaction and clarification. You completely right. Planning is a key of success but you cannot succeeded in a project by just planning; you have to act for real result. For me Planning help to act or do efficiently. Talking about IPv6, I can say Planning is an ingredient for smooth transition.<br>

My statement was a question and not an affirmation and I'm happy to get more from you about it. My view was to say that people have to start planning about IPv6 adoption and deployment now even if there is no real necessity to avoid jumping when the will be appropriate moment.<br>
<br>
You know, I'm not an IPv6 expert, My role as an Internet User is to raise awareness and urge those who have to act (ISP, Content provider, DNS provider, IXP managers, governments...) and let us take advantage of IPv6.<br>
Thank you once again for your advice, we will consider during the implementation of our projet by acting more than planning.<br>

No takers? Let me re-phrase so my message doesn't get lost in<br>
translation. Planning is very important , it enables us set goals (how<br>
would we know when we have 'deployed' IPv6?) and anticipate the<br>
environment (what effects will it have on my current operations,<br>
finances, processes etc?), ensuring that the project gets done right<br>
as much as possible the first time.<br>

Planning has to stop and some point (maybe not completely) and<br>
DOing/Implementation has to start. I fear that we don't get stuck in<br>
planning .... planning ... planning mode.<br>

Almost every single deployment case study you will find follows some<br>
variation of the Plan>>Do>>[Check>>Act] cycle. So if you have deployed<br>
IPv6, could you please share with us<br>
<br>
a - How much of total project time went to planning vs doing?<br>
b - Did the planning phase a discrete one or it happened<br>
intermittently over the project life-cycle?<br>
c - Looking back on the challenges you faced, what else could you have<br>
changed done differently during planning stages to ensure a smoother<br>
adoption?<br>
