Most operating systems (~4-5 years old) support v6.</DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV><B>Acquiring IPv6 Space</B></DIV><DIV>Depends on the kind of organisation. In the AfriNIC region, we have two kinds of allocation/assignment.</DIV><DIV><SPAN class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </SPAN>* PA space for LIR's (<A href="http://www.afrinic.net/docs/policies/afpol-v6200407-000.htm">http://www.afrinic.net/docs/policies/afpol-v6200407-000.htm</A>) and</DIV><DIV><SPAN class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </SPAN>* PI space for end-sites (<A href="http://www.afrinic.net/docs/policies/afpol-v6200701.htm">http://www.afrinic.net/docs/policies/afpol-v6200701.htm</A>)</DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV><B>Transit</B></DIV><DIV>You need to discuss this with your upstream provider as part of the planning process. If they don't provide IPv6 transit, then you can discuss with them the possibility of creating a tunnel to their upstream (the upstream of your upstream). You might also consider directly discussing with the upstream of your upstream for the same.
