Dear all,

For those of you that could not make for the last webinar on the 22nd,

we asked the community what are the topics they would like to hear about in the 2013 webinars.

A number of topics were proposed as per the attached ppt.

we are looking for further input and comments from the community on what you would like to hear this year.

After we have received the different comments and recommendations, we will announce the entire year's schedule.

A full report will be sent to the AFNOG, IPv6 in Africa mailing lists as well as published on the partners IPv6 pages and portals.

For those of you that were not able to attend the webinar or wish to catch up on last years topics, the url to the archives will be shared by next week.

Regards
IPv6 PM

> So the 1st Webinar went well and we had about 39 participants online. This was the agenda:
>
> - Introductions and refresher on the webinars - 10min (Kevin - ISOC)
> - Why IPv6 is important/Refresher on IPv6 - 20min (Christian - Orange)
> - AFRINIC Activities on IPv6 - 15min (Hisham - AFRINIC)
> - ISOC activities on IPv6 - 15min (Kevin - ISOC)
> - Webinar series topics 2013 discussion - presentation of our draft topics and subsequent discussion with the audience (30 min)
>
>
> Only 6 participants filled the online survey. They reported that they were happy with the Webinar and the presentations and were looking forward to the future webinars. They also reported that they had no problems with Webex and it was very stable for them.
>
> During the webinar, we asked the participants for their opinions of the topics. Here is what I deduced (please add if I missed something)
>
> Webinar 1 - IPv6 Basics
>
> All who responded wanted to have this session although some suggested that perhaps it might be better to have it as a 30min session instead of a full webinar. Having thought about it, I am still of the opinion that we should do this and have it somewhere as an archive or guide that people can use to refer to. This will be useful for the current network admins and those who will inherit IPv4 networks and want to learn IPv6.
> One key issue that should be addressed in the webinar is that most Network Admins have a policy of if its not broken, don't fix it and because NAT/Proxying on IPv4 is working for them, they do not want to move to IPv6 and don't know where to start even if they did want to move. They see IPv6 as complex (hexadecimal, subnetting, etc) and avoid it. This webinar if done should simplify IPv6 as much as possible. I would like to get your comments on this

> Some participants asked for a live demo of IPv6 and a technical session on tunneling. We can address that in Webinar 1 or 2.
