Chers membres,

- - Sunday Folayan Conseil AfriNIC
- - Badru Ntege Conseil AfriNIC
- - Paulos Nyirenda Conseil AfriNIC
- - Pierre Dandjinou Conseil AfriNIC des aînés
- - Boubakar Barry Communauté Internet Africaine
- - Paul Rendek Autres RIR

Cordialement,

Sunday Folayan
Président du conseil d'AfriNIC

- --------------------------------------------

Dear members,

Please pardon me for the delay in updating you on the recruitment of
the AFRINIC CEO. I trust you will accept my apology.

The Board was very optimistic with the initial timeline, mindful of
the difficulties in practice but we did our best to follow it.
However, circumstances dictate that we adjust it now, and if need be,
we will adjust again in future.

Though I had planned to notify you frequently, fate played a very
cruel hand on me, a day before sending my last update to you. My
Father died. As the first Son, and in line with our custom and
tradition, I had to arrange his funeral. I relocated to my village,
where I had very intermittent and unreliable access to the Internet. I
was cut-off from my colleagues for most of the time.

The Board within that period, continued to work according to our
agreed plan. The need to adjust the timetable now, stems from the fact
that the Board saw a lot of sense in the request from the community to
be involved in the CEO selection process.

The Board and its CEO Selection Committee discussed this extensively
and agreed on having an Interview Panel that includes search committee
members, a community representative, a CoE representative and a
representative of the RIR Community. Composition and getting the
availability of outside members took some time, regrettably, but so.

The Board is however assured that this action will increase the
transparency in the process of hiring the new CEO, regardless of the
time lost in the process, because we already have an Interim CEO
managing the affairs of the organization, in a proper manner.

All these factors have led the Board to recalibrate the recruitment
time-line as follows:

interviews for top five candidates will be done between 15th Feb. and
28th Feb. 2015.

The Interview Panel consists of:
- - Sunday Folayan AFRINIC Board
- - Badru Ntege AFRINIC Board
- - Paulos Nyirenda AFRINIC Board
- - Pierre Dandjinou AFRINIC Council of Elders
- - Boubakar Barry African Internet Community
- - Paul Rendek Other RIR

The Interview Panel will evaluate and rank the top five candidates
based on the online interviews, and nominate the top 3 candidates for
the second phase of interviews and 360 degree evaluation that will be
at a face-to-face meeting in Mauritius between 9th and 12th March 2015.

The Board will meet to select the CEO on the 15th of March 2015.

Contract negotiations will be between 16th and 21st March 2015

The CEO will be appointed on the 27th of March 2015.

The candidates have been notified of the adjustments to the time-line
and we will update the website and other documents as soon as possible.

The Board seeks your understanding in this regard, and assure you of
our commitment to the process.

Yours Sincerely,

Sunday Folayan
