Thank you Pierre,
First of all congratulations once again to the ICANN's Africa
Strategy Working Group: You did a great work in a very short time
space. I'm happy to see concrete initiatives or actions coming out
of that strategy. <span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}"

Increase the number of registrars and domain names
registrations in Africa is a big challenge but together with a
Multi-stakeholder spirit, we can make that happen. I wish
great success to that event.

I have been participated to ICANN since some years and the
first point on my participation's agenda was to understand the
DNS industry and become an ICANN Accredited Registrar.
Rapidly, I realized that becoming an ICANN Accredited
Registrar is not easy for an Africa Company. So I join the
ALAC to create awareness on the DNS in my local community but
my primary goal is still relevant.

I know ICANN is a consensus based bottom-up policy development
but last I was wondering how ICANN can introduce some
"positive discrimination" into the Registrar Accreditation
Agreement (RAA). Very few Africans are part of the gNSO and
how can we influence Its policy development?
I also know that running a registrar is a critical business
and the company willing to do so has to be well capitalized
and sustainable; but It is very difficult for a sustainable
Africa Start-Up to fulfill the financial and insurance
requirements of the RAA. I hope that proposed solutions to
that problem will come out of the Addis Event.

ICANN is mainly about IP addresses and Domain names. Africa is
already fully part of the IP's part of ICANN; the big
challenge now is to make Africa become fully part of the DNS's
part of ICANN.

I'm naturally interested to participate in that event.
Best regards,
Victor Ndonnang.
