maybe you have the right answer. In fact, even if there are many
websites served by the same IP address, http servers like apache
can differentiate them based on the name of the website. So adding
a CNAME record in the DNS + a virtualhost in the apache config and
we have it.<br>

If there's more than one web server, the company would either
have to assign an IPv4 address for each server or use a
different port for each web service which has to be accessible
from the Internet.</blockquote>

In addition it could also be that there is already another
application running on the apache default (port 80) such as
Nginx and having less server resource, they were forced to use
another port. These are all assumption as those that set it up
will be able to best explain why they went 8080 route. <br>
I must note that Adamou has commented in a way that deserve a
