Dear community,

Without any doubt:All this (virtual) battle is about money...

If the interest of the African community was the priority, why DCA or UNIFORUM (AfricaInOneSpace or African Union) did not applied also for :

- .Afrique (French community in Africa)

- .أفريقيا (Arab community in Africa)
- .África (Spanish or Portuguese communityin Africa)
- .Afrika (Swahili or Afrikaans communityin Africa)
- etc

With respect to ICANN and his guidebook that some consider to be the Bible or the Koran, on the pretext that it was realized by the contribution of the entire global Internet community, I think this document could be improved : the registration for a new geoTLD should automatically caused the registration in other codified languages in this geographical area.

To return to the issue of dotAfrica, the Steering Committee of DCA or AfricaInOneSpace is not representative enough. The multi-stakeholder model is not balanced. All Africa sub-regions should be represented in the Steering Committees. All this leads us to ask questions about the final aim.

To prove to the African community their goodintention, DCA or AfricaInOneSpace websites must be available in all major languages used in Africa (English, Arabic, French, Portuguese, Spanish, etc.).

To all those who believe themselves invested with a divine or superior expertise, they should remember that this is an open forum on the Internet where all opinions are recorded.

Thank you to those in this forum, whocome with a positive spirit to bring clarifications on issues or concerns raised by other members.

Best regards.

Will we please not use the word "confusing" string at this stage.....

I have been following this .africa issue and gave my opinions and warnings - it seems that eyes were on the potential to make or lose money in the business (personal interests to say the least) .

I have a personal observation to share:

What is being suggested that African join forces behind one application was there before the call for applications (I am surely correct in this). I saw the tendency of Africans having camps since 2005/6 at one meeting in Abuja - That was in addition to what I experienced when I was nominated to serve the ccNSO Council 2004/5 - there was an article in a newspaper published in Nigeria saying that I was not fit to serve for the African Region because I was 'not known' and also base in a 'small country'! I could not believe that story - I was in Malawi by then.

The AfriNIC Board elections in Abuja was a story for another day! Those who are concerned know what they did - I am not a full time person in Internet-based business but I do support progressive policies in its development for all to benefit without favour or fear.

The question is 'who' is to 'know' who for anything to do with Africa? Without dissolving the 'groupings' ...Africa will end up divided and lose it all. We know about language groups = Anglophone, Arabic, Francophone and Lasso-phone (Latin) but that should not be compounded with personal interests

It is frighten the perception is changed - that African issues and politics are mainly for personal gains. One should leave a public position and go privately then...!

Enough for now.
>>Your comment is the take home for me; I agree that politics exists in other continent however I also like to note that there is just something distinct about that of Africa! Why for instance do we need to have two applications for the same initiative, can't we just collectively agree on one thing and do the pushing in the same direction. May plead that the oldies amongst us help we young generation set a stand on this...let's begin to have an era in Africa where we disagree to agree on issues. The death of the president of Ghana and the smooth transitional process gives my hope for Africa!
