Hello everyone,

Over the past eight years, as a result of a strong peering ecosystem enabled by IXPs in Kenya and Nigeria, the ratio of localized traffic roughly flipped from 30 % local / 70% international in 2012 to 70% local / 30% international today.

This achievement significantly fulfills the Internet Society and African Internet community’s joint goal for 80% of Africa’s Internet traffic to be locally accessible by 2020 (“80/20 by 2020”).

Au cours des huit dernières années, en raison d'un écosystème de peering puissant activé par les IXP au Kenya et le Nigéria, le ratio de trafic localisé est passé d’environ 30% local / 70% international en 2012 à 70% local / 30% international, aujourd'hui.

Cette réalisation satisfait de manière significative l’objectif commun que portent l’Internet Society et la communauté Internet africaine pour que 80% du trafic Internet africain puisse être accessible localement d’ici 2020 («80/20 d’ici 2020 »).
