SUMMARY

This week, The US State Department held the fourth United States-Republic of Korea Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Policy Forum which brought together private sector representatives and delegations from the two nations to discuss how the countries can collaborate to advance mutual goals in areas of 5G mobile technology, artificial intelligence, inclusive Internet governance, and data privacy.


Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha has joined forces with UNESCO to promote a safe and secure cyber environment for youngsters to ensure they are not targeted for bullying, abuse, exploitation and more through the internet.


Artificial intelligence (AI) can result in large number of job losses and the United Nations should adopt guidelines to have social control over use of such technologies, said Nobel laureate and social entrepreneur Muhammad Yunus.

A European parliament committee approved a copyright law that could wide-ranging effects on internet platforms that host user-generated content.

California has passed a digital privacy law granting consumers more control over and insight into the spread of their personal information online.

China is expected to issue a regulation on graded protection of cyber security this week, with experts saying it will improve national security.

About 340 million personal records were found in the exposed database, according to a reports. The firm responsible for the data is Exactis, a Florida-based data brokers.
