SUMMARY!

This week ; Mary Meeker released her annual internet trends report on Wednesday. Meeker's report estimates that more than half the world's population are Internet users, or roughly 3.6 billion and China is catching up as a hub to the world’s biggest internet companies.

In the United States; The State Department on Thursday published two unclassified cyber reports that give President Trump recommendations on how the administration could improve its international engagement strategy as well as how to better deter cyber threats.

In Europe, European Union member states have agreed their position on the proposed reform of the EU's copyright rules.

In Asia, The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is giving a priority to cyber issues, especially cyber security.

On data protection, Facebook and Google have become the targets of the first official complaints of GDPR noncompliance, filed on the day the privacy law takes effect across the EU.

Uganda has imposed a controversial tax on people using social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Viber and Twitter, the media reported.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) could almost double the value of the global digital economy to $23 trillion by 2025 from $12.9 trillion in 2017, said a Huawei study on Tuesday.

The California Senate has voted to approve a bill to restore net neutrality regulations repealed by the Federal Communications Commission in December.
