SUMMARY


This week, the European Commission has announced a new series of measures to put artificial intelligence (AI) at the service of citizens and boost Europe’s competitiveness in the field.


On cybersecurity, Portugal and Australia are ready to join NATO’s Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence (CCD COE) becoming the 21st and 22nd nations to join the center.


On fake news, Tech giants such as Facebook and Google must step up efforts to tackle the spread of fake news online in the next few months or potentially face further EU regulation, as concerns mount over election interference.

On digital economy, Southeast Asia's expanding digital economy in areas such as online retail and ride-hailing services is pushing the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to harmonize their policies and rules.

Streaming-video providers like Netflix and Amazon prime Video would be required to dedicate at least 30% of their on-demand catalogs to European content, under a proposed European Union law announced Thursday.
