SUMMARY


This week, United Nations World Data Forum opens in Cape Town, South Africa aiming to build broad consensus on how to harness the power of data for sustainable development. Also happened tbis week, World Economic Forum 2017 at DAVOS where a panel of industry experts engaged in an interactive debate about the opportunities and challenges presented by the adoption of Blockchain technology. On IANA transition, Trump Commerce Secretary nominee Wilbur Ross stated during senate confirmation hearing on Wednesday that 'there's"no realistic way" to walk back the transition of U.S oversight of the internet's domain name authority to a global stakeholder model since the Commerce Department declined to renew its contract with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) last fall'.
