SUMMARY

This week, after the United States Federal Communications Commission<http://abcnews.go.com/topics/news/us/federal-communications-commission.htm> voted Thursday to repeal net neutrality<http://abcnews.go.com/topics/news/issues/net-neutrality.htm> regulations imposed in 2015.

On e-commerce, hopes that World Trade Organization members would fix an all-party deal on e-commerce during its Eleventh Ministerial Conference (MC11) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, were dashed as the meeting closed on Wednesday.

On artificial Intelligence, Google announced Wednesday that it will open a new artificial intelligence research center in Beijing despite the U.S. search giant’s exclusion from the country’s internet.

On Child online protection, "governments and the private sector have not kept up with the game-changing pace of digital technologies, exposing children to new risks and harms – both on and offline – and leaving millions of the most disadvantaged behind, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF<http://www.unicef.org/>) said Monday in a new report".

On cyber geopolitics, Russia could pose a major threat to the UK and other Nato nations by cutting underwater cables essential for international commerce and the internet, the chief of the British defence staff, Sir Stuart Peach, has warned.
On infrastructure, Google announced that it will invest in a new subsea cable that will connect Singapore to Perth and Sydney in Australia (with a branch to Jakarta, Indonesia).
The growing volume of electronic waste, including discarded products with a battery or plug, such as mobile phones, laptops, televisions, refrigerators and electrical toys, poses a major threat to the environment and human health, the United Nations warned on Wednesday.

Also, more announcement on the the 2017 Internet Governance Forum sponsored by the United Nations (UN) which will be held at the UN's European headquarters, the Palais des Nations in Geneva, from Dec. 18 to 21.

Below, informations on those subjects and events as well as documents on data protection, surveillance..
