SUMMARY
This week, IANA Stewardship transition on Internet Governance headlines again as historic moment happened with contract between ICANN and the U.S. Department of Commerce to perform the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) functions officially expired October 01, handing over IANA functions to ICANN materializing the transtion.
On Data protection,<http://www.ntia.doc.gov/press-release/2016/statement-assistant-secretary-strickling-iana-functions-contract> The UK's new information commissioner has called for the country to adopt forthcoming EU data protection laws, despite its plan to leave the Union as concerns raise on impact Brexit could have on data privacy.
Besides, The General Data Protection Regulation<http://digiday.com/uk/new-eu-data-law-matters-headache-ad-tech/>, which will take effect in 2018 in Europe, reportedly requires EU companies to be more open on user data collection.
As for events, we note the International Open Data Conference in Madrid, The Asia-Pacific Regional Internet Development Dialogue in Bangkok, ENOG 12 in Yerevan and APNIC 42 in Colombo.
