Africa Top Level Domains Organization (AfTLD) hosted by the Botswana
Communications and Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) the .BW ccTLD operator
in partnership with AFNOG, successfully held the Advanced Registry
Operators Course (AROC) from 30th May to 3rd June  2016 in Gaborone,
Botswana, see: www.aftld.org/aroc2016

The five day workshop covered building and operating a registry system
for ccTLD technical staff and registrars with a significant amount of
hands-on training on registry platforms actually used by African
ccTLDs .

The workshop was successfully executed with the support of ICANN, NSRC
and CoCCA Registries.

Each participant had access to at least two servers where they could
install and build their own registry using CoCCA and FRED registry
systems on a virtualised server platform. Using this platform,
participants were  guided through Installation and configuration of
the registries as well as  monitoring ongoing registry and network
operations,

The training workshop was supported by BOCRA as host in partnership
with  AFNOG and under the auspices of the  Africa Internet Summit ,
NSRC virtualised platform, CoCCA virtualised platform,  ICANN and
AfTLD.

The workshop was followed by the AFTLD annual general meeting in which
Dr. Paulos Nyirenda, from NIC. MW, Mr. Serge Sanou from NIC.BF and Mrs
Wafa Dahmani from NIC.TN were elected to the Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee thereafter elected Dr. Alex Corenthin as the
President and Chairman, Mr. Ali Hadji Mmadi as the Vice President and
Mrs Wafa Dahmani as the treasurer.

The African Top Level Domains Organization was established in 2002 to
act as a focal point for African Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLD)
managers in coordinating, formulating,
developing and presenting a unified approach to issues related to the
Domain Name System.
The African Top Level Domains Organization also presents a forum for
sharing ideas between the regions Internet community with an aim of
promoting the utilization of national country’s TopLevel Domains.

L’AfTLD (Africa Top Level Organisation Domains), avec le soutien de
l’Autorité de régulation et de la Communication du Botswana
(BOCRA),hôte de la session et en partenariat avec AFNOG, a organisé un
Atelier AROC (Advanced Registry Operators Course) du 30 mai au 3 Juin
2016 à Gaborone, Botswana, (voir: www.aftld.org/aroc2016)

Cet atelier de cinq jours, à l’intention du personnel et des bureaux
d’enregistrement des ccTLD, a couvert les processus de mise en place
et d'exploitation d'un système d’automatisation d’un registre à
travers une formation pratique sur les plates-formes effectivement
utilisés par les ccTLD africains.

L'atelier a pu se tenir avec succès grâce au contributions de l'ICANN,
du NSRC et de CoCCA Registries.

L'atelier de formation a été organisé par le BOCRA en partenariat avec
: l’AFNOG dans le cadre de « African Internet Summit 2016 », le NSRC
et CoCCA (plates-formes virtualisées), l'ICANN et l’AfTLD.

Durant cette formation, chaque participant a eu accès à au moins deux
serveurs pour installer et administrer leur propre registre avec les
applications d’automatisation CoCCA et FRED sur une plate-forme de
serveurs virtualisés. Les participants ont été guidés lors de
l'installation et de la configuration des logiciels ainsi que dans le
monitoring des opérations de registre et de réseau en cours
d’exploitation.

Cet atelier s’est conclu par la tenue de l'assemblée générale annuelle
de l’AfTLD au cours de laquelle le Dr Paulos Nyirenda du registre .MW,
M. Serge Sanou du registre .BF et Mme Wafa Dahmani du registre .TN ont
été élus comme membres du Comité exécutif (EXCOM).
Le Comité exécutif a ensuite élu le Dr Alex Corenthin comme Président,
M. Ali Hadji Mmadi comme Vice-président et Mme Wafa Dahmani comme
Trésorière.

A propos de AfTLD
L’Association Africaine des TLD (AFTLD) a été créée en 2002 pour
servir de point focal aux gestionnaires Africains des Code Pays (Top
Level Domain - ccTLD) dans la coordination, la formulation, le
développement et la présentation d’une approche unifiée dans les
questions liées au Système de gestion des noms de domaines (DNS).
L’AFTLD se veut également un forum d'échange d'idées entre les
communautés Internet des différentes régions dans le but de promouvoir
l'utilisation des code pays nationaux par celles-ci.
