Recently the ICANN Board posted its WG's report on NomCom improvements and the report is now out for 60 day public comment period:

Amongst the raft of proposals is to increase the guaranteed representation of the Africa region from 1 (currently nominated by AFRALO), to 3 (2 more by ccNSO and ASO).
 
An open session will be held in LA for those attending to allow for more direct community input to the report.
