Thanks Yaovi for helping us remembering one of the greatest contributors to
the evolution, stability and openness of the Internet who was Jon Postel. 

Establishing more and more active Internet Society Chapters in Africa is for
me the best way to pay tribute to this great man in Africa.

May his soul rest in peace.

On October 16, 1998, Jon Postel died at the age of 55. The impact of the
technical and organizational improvements he made to the Internet during his
all too brief life is immeasurable.

The Postel service award is named for Dr. Jonathan B. Postel to recognize
and commemorate the extraordinary stewardship exercised by Jon over the
course of a 30 year career in networking.
