It's a true shame to hear the AU is still primarily funded from donor
funds. Honestly, honestly, what are our governments telling us? That after
all these decades, we can't even fund our institutions? Would one then be
justified in linking our lagging behind ICT infrastructure to poor
political decision making? There are enough resources in the continent but
it seems greed & ignorance may be the cause of our poor deployment of our
resources & inability to turn resources into profits/revenue.

This reality also makes me honestly realize that I'm having difficulty
trusting our governments to take positions that can really benefit Africa.
If a donor funds you, the donor expects you not to make decisions that the
donor doesn't like. Therefore, how much should we trust the decisions that
our governments take in the AU? I know I may be too simplistic here, but
the fact remainsŠwe are still a donor continent & this must stop.

We also need to even stop moaning about which working group drove what
ICANN strategy, and start to focus on what really mattersŠ.using our own
resources, as much as possible.
