Yassin

Though I get your point we also have to be aware that the world will not sit around and wait for us Africans to get our act together making sure that everyone is consulted. The use of technology and the array of discussion lists around means that there is wide indirect consultation. The fact that we are discussing your concerns on a list viewed by thousands is testament to that fact.

We need to embrace the means we have and also be proactive. The members at ICANN 44 were proactive and seized the opportunity. They then used the means necessary to align the opportunity by widening the ad-hoc team membership and now seeking community input which is a journey to normalisation.

We are in a process so I think we need to be appreciative to those who seize the opportunity and then be supportive in guiding them through dialogue to achieve a win-win solution.

Was this shared within participants? The list of participants is available...

Those who could make it to the meeting did it, and were informed by the new CEO that he is keen to assist, and that an Africa specific strategy was needed by Next Icann meeting in Toronto in October. Participants then resolved to form a working group and three people were unanimously nominated..Tarek, Nii and myself..Then considerations on gender balance as well as regional representation were floated..with the addition of Maimouna Diop and Palesa Legoze..and still waiting for regional representatives to join..
