[AfrICANN-discuss] Use of a false online identity by Ms Bekele

Nothing to do with you. The reference was to /'Lerato'/ voting.

It's clearly unacceptable for someome to pretend to be a different
person in order to promote the interests of a real person. I'm surprised
and actually shocked that some people can't see that.

As has been pointed out, the consequences of that sort of behaviour can
be significant.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sockpuppet_%28Internet%29

As an excuse "Lerato" said she thought emails sent under her real
identity had been blocked. That sounds like an allegation of censorship
to me. But she was never blocked from this list. From all evidence so
far, it just looks like she at some time she just forgot which of her
email addresses was subscribed and sent a message from the wrong one.
All you have to do when you get such a bounce message is to resend your
message with the right FROM: line to correspond with the email address
that you signed up with.

Creating a completely fictitious persona in order to promote DCA's
application on the list is misbehaving in my book.
And the question now in my mind, is who /else/ knew of the true identity
of 'Lerato Ma' at the time 'she' was promoting DCA's application for
.AFRICA on the list.
