>Ms Anne-Rachel Inné appointed AFRINIC Chief Operations Officer
>Cybercity, Ebene, Mauritius, 31 July 2012- After a rigorous recruitment process, it is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Ms Anne-Rachel Inné as Chief Operations Officer of AFRINIC.
>Ms Inné brings to AFRINIC a wealth of experience having worked for many years at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) where she was latterly the Manager Regional Relations, Africa. Ms Inné is well known in the African Internet community from her past 14 years service first as representative of African private sector at DNSO, consultant and staff at ICANN, and her continuous active involvement with AFRINIC, AfTLD and AfNOG communities at different levels.
>As Manager Regional Relations, Ms Inné served as ICANN’s primary link to the African regional community (Governments, Private Sector, Civil Society, Academia, Media, Individual users, and Regional Internet Registries, among other groups).
>Prior to joining ICANN, Ms Inné was an entrepreneur and consultant in the Information Communication Technology for development (ICT4D) sector. She has also previously worked as a model, a translator/Interpreter, a sales manager and a highly appreciated ICT4D consultant. She is a founding member of the African Enterprise network.
>She produced and publicised Learning by Doing at the Institute for Communications and Development: Lessons emerging from the ICT Stories Projects for the benefit of projects and the wider community. She was a member of the Bureau of the African Group at World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) as a representative of the African Private Sector and a Member of the Gender Coalition during WSIS and helped write Creating Your Own National Gender Programme – A Practical Guide.
>Ms Inné is featured as ICT Expert in the International Labour Organisation/International Organisation for Migration (ILO/IOM) book for the AUC: African Women at the Service of the Union.
>In 2010 Ms Inné was awarded both the Network Information & Infrastructure (NI&I) Service Award for 2010 in recognition of her contribution to improving and sustaining Africa's Internet environment and the AFRINIC Leadership Award for her demonstrated immense commitment and continued engagement with AFRINIC & African Network Operators' Group (AfNOG) communities in the interest of Africa as a whole.
>She holds a Master of Literature and an MBA in International Finance/Economics.
> “As a member of the community who worked towards the establishment of AFRINIC, I am very proud to join a team which has demonstrated that little stands in the way of will and a job well done! It is a privilege to continue serving our region and community as COO of AFRINIC,” says Ms Inné on her appointment.
>We are very proud at AFRINIC to soon welcome her among us and I am personally excited to be able work with her in achieving our mission and objectives in Africa. Ms Inné will take up the appointment on 15 August 2012.
