[AfrICANN-discuss] [***SPAM***] Re: AfrICANN Digest, Vol 57, Issue 24

Vika and All

I think the community has an opportunity to influence the direction and also get the solution it deserves. We have to begin directing the discussions to actual issues.

My email was totally misunderstood, and it the responsibility of the community at large to make sure we de-personalize the debate.

The AU decision should be informed by the community and so the community needs to take an active role in the dialogue. This process is not easy as we can see some of the misunderstandings coming out however we have to all work together.

Regardless, I find it impressive of you to rebuke the reactionary attitude that some of the posts show. After all, it won’t be the views for or against the “beauty contest” that will prevail – instead it will be the bidder that the AUC & ICANN will choose.

These people in the mailinglist have nothing to lose in the .africa application. They talk and talk. We have much to lose; if they keep baiting us and we take the bait, it doesn't help DCA cause. We should stay above the fray in their little chit chats. My humble opinion.
