Dear all,
I forgot to copy the e-mail below to the AfrICANN list. Please take a look at the zero draft proposals and let us know what you think, and if you have any suggestions for partners, panelists, and for improving the proposals. The deadline, to remind you, is today (Apr. 15). Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Dear Lilian,
Please find attached my revisions on the WAIGF workshop proposal you sent. I have marked my changes, and I'm sorry they're coming a bit late. I,however, so your call for comments below, and thought I should react to it. I hope this helps.
On another note, Vanda Scartezeni of ICANN's Board, and from Brazil has provided some suggestions on possible workshop topics. One of the workshops she has suggested is on the School of the Internet. I've also added two proposals related to ICANN's work, namely, participation, and the issue of the introduction of IDNs and new gTLDs. The zero draft proposals are also attached, and you are welcome to provide your comments and suggestions for resource persons, partners, etc.
That's about it for now. Have a great day/night or whatever, and best wishes!
Katim

Subject: Re: [Waigf-team] IGF Workshop
Hello Chad, thanks for your comments as these are issues that must be addressed by the team. Chad's questions are:
1. What about changing understanding is that we want to focus on WA anyway, narrowing it down a bit might help us explore the issues more deeply and also presenting the material in the form of a narrative might be more impactful.
2. Do we need to specify the kind of governance here? To be honest, I'm not fully clear about what this means. Is it e-democracy?
In Ref to: “The
Internet Governance in Africa: Impact on Africa Workshop' is intended
to address how Internet Governance can improve
the management and organisation of local governance
in Africa.
3. It strikes me that we are covering a lot of ground. As I understand it, our idea was to share and consolidate the outcomes of the local and regional events. Maybe the proposal should be more explicit about that? We could also say that in order to go broad and deep we expect the group to cover themes such as Access, local content and management of resources and that we may break into smaller working groups to further explore the issues.
For #2, I think it should be corrected to say"“The
Internet Governance in Africa: Impact on Africa Workshop' is intended
to address how Internet Governance can improve
the management and organisation of CIR, IDNs, etc."
Feedback from others on Chads comments please.
Thanks,
Lillian

>>Ben, from your email below, I get the feeling that you have missed a few emails as we have already jump started the WA-IGF Workshop for Lithuania :). Yes AfriNIC will submit the proposal on 15 April, which is why are are trying to conclude the discussions on the theme, objective, panelists, etc. As far as I know, the deadline remains 15 April for submitting a proposal and the proposals should contain panelists names and organisations.

If so, this is a good approach, then the focus is not on CIR, IDNs, etc, rather on the need to incorporate IG into management practices in Africa. If we can continue our discussions from this point, perhaps we can save on time.
